The cross-border between mobile phones and car companies is nothing new. At present, Huawei may be the only successful mobile phone company to do cars. However, there is no official product for car companies to make mobile phones on the market.

Last month, Li Bin of Weilai said that Weilai is moving forward with plans to launch a mobile phone every year, just like Apple.

Recently, foreign media GSM Arena reported that the first mobile phone of Ulai will be positioned as a high-end flagship, using Snapdragon 8 series processor. If it is launched next year, it will most likely be Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.

According to its report, Qualcomm Snapdragon chip was chosen mainly because this series of chips is the flagship chip of the mobile phone industry and is recognized by the high-end market. In addition, in the field of automotive chips, there is cooperation between the two, it is not easy to get mobile phone chips, and cooperation to make mobile phones will be easier.

In additionIt is said that the Weilai phone will support over 100 watts fast charging, with a 4500-4800mAh battery, which can be recharged from 0% to 100% in about 25 minutes. The price is expected to exceed 5000 yuan, and the top configuration will reach 7000 yuan.

Success or failure performance may depend on the car owner.

What about the performance of the first mobile phone in Weilai? First of all, China's mobile phone market has long been a Red Sea market, and even the once all-powerful Samsung mobile phone has lost interest in China. With the exception of Apple, a foreign brand, most of the rest are Chinese-owned brands.

Numerous brands have been eliminated in China's smartphone market. In addition to the successful transformation of Huawei, ZTE, Lenovo and Coolpad are no longer what they used to be. And the hammer phone is gone. Meizu mobile phone was acquired by Geely Motor. So at present, China's mobile phone market has almost been solidified, new brands to enter the market, will face very huge competition, it is difficult to succeed.

Secondly, the success of Xilai mobile phone depends largely on the car owner. Because the main function of this phone is the interconnection between the mobile phone and the car, remote control, which is equivalent to an intelligent car key. In other words, it doesn't make much sense to buy this phone if it's not the owner of the car.

As we all know, the annual sales of Lulai is about 100000, compared with less than 100000 in 2021. Assuming that all car owners buy mobile phones, the annual sales of mobile phones is 100000, which is almost negligible in the mobile phone market where tens of millions of phones are shipped. So its sales will not be very large.

Suppose that the sales of mobile phones in Weilai are small, which will bring a series of chain reactions. First of all, the contract manufacturers of front-line mobile phones may not be willing to cooperate with Wei because the order is too small. Weilai can only find some small-scale contract manufacturers. Because contract manufacturers also need to customize moulds according to the needs of mobile phone manufacturers. It often costs millions, tens of millions of dollars.

Second, it may be difficult to buy state-of-the-art chips and screens. Because the most advanced screen suppliers and chip suppliers will also give priority to working with big brands such as Xiaomi, OPPO and Huawei. Therefore, in the absence of the most advanced screens and chips, Weilai mobile phones are expensive, but they are not the latest in hardware. It's about a few months later than the latest technology.

The third is the cost. At the beginning, Xiaomi phones were sold only 1999 cheaply, not only because there were no offline stores, but only through online sales, but because of the huge mass support. The more you produce, the more you can split the cost. But Xiaomi could not predict the specific sales at the beginning, so it took orders first and then released some products a few days a week, so Xiaomi was initially complained of slow delivery. And I guess these problems will also be encountered by Wei Lai.

The price of 7000 yuan of high-end mobile phone, not because the hardware is the most advanced, but its hardware may not be the most advanced, just because the output is small, so the individual cost is high. Of course, now that Weilai's mobile phone has not been officially put on the market, we only make a simple guess according to the situation of the industry in the past.

But in the final analysis, its success or failure will depend on the car owners, if the car owners support, with the increase in the size of the car, then the sales of mobile phones will become more and more.
