全面加碼生成AI！蘋果收購加拿大初創公司DarwinAI
據報道，蘋果收購了加拿大人工智能初創公司DarwinAI，該公司幾十名精英員工現已加入蘋果的AI部門，共同推動蘋果在人工智能領域的進一步突破。
據悉，DarwinAI 開發了可在製造過程中對零部件進行視覺檢測的 AI 技術，併為一系列行業的客户提供服務。DarwinAI 的核心技術之一是讓 AI 系統變得更小、更快，業內人士表示這項技術可能對蘋果有幫助，因為蘋果正專注於在設備上運行AI，而不是完全在雲端運行。
值得一提的是，DarwinAI的聯合創始人、加拿大滑鐵盧大學系統設計工程系教授Alexander Wong也作為收購交易的一部分加盟蘋果，擔任AI團隊的核心領導職務。
加拿大創業社區Communitech數據顯示，截至2022年，DarwinAI已籌集了超過1500萬美元，它獲得了Honeywell Ventures 和 Inovia Capital 等風險投資公司的投資。此外，這家初創公司還與洛克希德馬丁和、特爾公司等公司合作。
儘管在過去十年中蘋果收購的人工智能公司比大多數競爭對手都多，但蘋果在生成人工智能市場仍然落後。2022 OpenAI的ChatGPT推出讓該公司措手不及，谷歌和微軟等科技同行也憑藉新功能搶盡了風頭。
此次低調的收購發生在蘋果今年大力推進人工智能業務之前，蘋果正在努力為其下一代 iOS 18 和 macOS 15 操作系統打造人工智能功能。出於保護隱私的考慮，蘋果正致力於讓人工智能功能在設備上運行，而 DarwinAI 在製造小型人工智能系統方面所做的努力將有助於推動這一努力。
蘋果公司的CEO庫克曾表示，蘋果今年將在人工智能領域“開闢新天地”。外界猜測蘋果將在今年6月的全球開發者大會上宣佈這一消息。
蘋果收購DarwinAI是今年加大AI投入的最新跡象。
今年2月媒體曝出，蘋果停掉造車項目，將更多資源投入到生成式AI項目。這也許意味着未來兩三年 iPhone 可能會有久違的“大更新”。
有分析師評論稱，將資源轉向生成式AI是正確的選擇。無疑AI的回報週期要比汽車更短，AI能更便捷地與手機結合，讓蘋果的AI技術落地。
受消息影響蘋果股價短暫上升，收升1.09%，至173.美元，今年以來股價累計下跌約10%。
