瑞信董事長向股東致歉
瑞信集團(CS.US)董事長萊曼(Axel Lehmann)在瑞信年度股東大會上向瑞信的股東們道歉，表示董事會未能阻止人們對該行喪失信任，對未能遏制危機深表歉意。萊曼在蘇黎世召開的瑞信年度股東大會上的講話中提到:“我們未能遏制遺留醜聞的影響，也未能以正面事實對抗負面新聞。最終，這家銀行陷入如此境地。我很抱歉我們無法阻止多年來積累的信任喪失，這讓股東們感到失望。”
瑞信公開道歉之際，股東正就規模更大的競爭對手瑞銀集團(UBS.US)收購瑞信一事與瑞信領導層對峙，這一官宣收購標誌着瑞信167年曆史的宣告終結。這筆規模30億瑞士法郎(約33億美元)的折價收購交易於上個月敲定，以結束在瑞信多年的醜聞、鉅額虧損和風險管理失敗後的金融市場危機。在瑞信被迫收購之前，硅谷銀行“光速破產”事件已經重創歐美銀行業的投資者情緒。
值得注意的是，這筆收購交易沒有得到瑞信或瑞銀股東的批準，凸顯出瑞士政府協調解決方案的緊迫性。在瑞銀官方宣佈收購時，瑞士政府援引了憲法的一項條款，該條款允許它發佈臨時法令，以應對嚴重破壞公共秩序或國內外安全的現有或迫在眉睫的威脅。在這種情況下，這包括併購事項凌駕於股東層面之上。
萊曼表示:“我們曾經希望把所有的精力和努力都投入到扭轉局面，使瑞信重回正軌上。”“讓我感到痛苦的是，我們沒有時間這樣做，在3月份那個決定命運的一週，我們的計劃被徹底打亂了。對此我感到非常抱歉。”
這場股東大會在蘇黎世的曲棍球體育場舉行，這是多年來投資者首次有機會與管理層面對面。之前的會議由於新冠疫情而以虛擬方式舉行。同時，這也將是瑞信的最後一次年度股東大會。
股東和代理顧問在會議之前表示，他們打算投票反對包括萊曼在內的幾名董事會成員的連任，並表達了對瑞信董事會和其他高級管理人員的不滿情緒。目前尚不清楚這家即將被瑞銀全盤收購的銀行的管理層中誰將在收購中倖存下來。有媒體報道稱，萊曼和瑞信首席執行官烏爾里希·科爾納(Ulrich Koerner )可能會退出瑞信管理層，瑞信董事長則表示多名董事會成員不尋求連任。
瑞士央行副行長Martin Schlegel近日表示，如果瑞信沒有在上個月的緊急救助中被迫出售給瑞銀集團，瑞信可能馬上就面臨破產，“如果沒有瑞士政府促成的這一項收購交易，一場瑞士和全球的金融危機非常可能已經發生了。”瑞士央行副行長表示。爲了遏制全球銀行系統的陷入危機，瑞銀於3月19日同意在瑞士政府和瑞士央行的財政支持下以大約30億瑞士法郎的價格收購瑞信。
