芯片短缺在最糟糕的時刻衝擊蘋果
蘋果在過去幾個月裏似乎避免了芯片短缺所造成的最壞影響,但實際上,該公司的命運已經發生了改變。
在上週四的蘋果財報電話會議上,首席執行官庫克對投資者和分析師表示,該公司的產品短缺不是“我們所犯的根本性錯誤”的結果,其供應鏈戰略並不是造成當前問題的原因。
庫克將責任歸咎於供應商。雖然蘋果自己設計產品、並依賴富士康等製造商組裝設備,但它同時依賴數百家全球供應商爲其提供各種設備的零部件,以及芯片。只要有一個芯片或零部件供應緊張,蘋果的產品供應就會出現問題。
關於芯片短缺,庫克指出,對於蘋果而言,芯片供應不足主要體現在相對低端的芯片方面,相對而言,蘋果高端芯片的供應沒有問題,低端芯片的採購方面,蘋果需要同業內其他公司展開競爭,目前無法預測市場供需何時能恢復平衡,因爲這事關明年經濟總體走勢,以及其他公司的需求預測。
如果不是當前的供應問題,蘋果第四財季的營收或將達到創紀錄的900億美元。財報顯示,蘋果Q4總營收同比增長29%至834億美元,不及預期的848.5億美元;其中,來自iPhone、iMac及配件的銷售收入均低於市場預期。
庫克指出,蘋果目前陷入困境主要是因爲:與疫情相關的供應鏈問題、芯片短缺。他表示,前者已經在本月得到解決,而後者則是一個持續的威脅。
庫克表示,芯片短缺等限制對假日季度的影響將更嚴重,對第一財季的營收將造成超過60億美元的負面影響。但他同時表示,屆時第一財季的銷售額將創歷史新高,超過此前的1110億美元。分析師此前預期蘋果Q1營收將達到1200億美元左右,但現在的情況使他們開始調低預期,現在的普遍預測爲1185億美元。
蘋果四季度營收未達到華爾街的預期,很大程度上還是受iPhone營收未達到預期的影響。供應問題出現的時間對蘋果而言尤其糟糕,因爲該公司擁有多年來最強大的產品陣容之一,而如今它的銷售引擎卻因爲“無法控制的原因”陷入困境。
芯片短缺將導致蘋果 iPhone 13 系列手機產量減少1000萬部左右。而產能減少可能導致新iPhone 發貨時間一直處於延遲狀態,對消費者而言,這意味着前所未有的等待時間,例如,iPhone 13 Pro需要延遲到11月底發貨、而Mac 和 Apple Watch 則延遲至12月。
