BYD’s overseas business continues to expand, with Brazil, Thailand, and Australia ranking as its top three export markets. At the same time, BYD is actively promoting localized production in Europe, Southeast Asia, and Latin America.BYD’s international business has achieved remarkable success in recent years, particularly in Brazil, Thailand, and Australia. According to Morgan Stanley, Brazil has become BYD’s largest overseas market, accounting for 30-35% of overseas sales. In October of this year, BYD’s sales in Brazil surged to 7,200 units, a significant increase from the previous 5,000 to 6,000 units per month. As a key export country, Brazil’s performance highlights BYD’s strong growth momentum in the Latin American market.
Thailand and Australia follow closely, ranking as BYD’s second and third largest export markets, respectively. Since the launch of the BYD Atto 3 model in Australia in 2022, this electric SUV has been well received by local consumers, helping BYD establish a solid foothold in the country and securing its position as one of the company’s top three global markets. To further expand its presence, BYD recently applied for the Atto 3 Up trademark in Australia and New Zealand, signaling a potential launch of a more competitive vehicle model in these markets.
BYD Accelerates Global Expansion
Beyond these markets, BYD’s performance in Europe has also been steadily recovering, particularly in the UK and EU countries. Despite rising protectionism in Europe, BYD’s monthly sales grew significantly in September and October, surpassing 5,000 units. The company is expected to continue expanding its market share across Europe. As part of its internationalization strategy, BYD is not only achieving breakthroughs in key markets but also planning to establish localized production bases in Thailand, Brazil, Uzbekistan, and Hungary. This strategic move aims to address the growing global demand for electric vehicles while mitigating geopolitical risks. These initiatives will help BYD strengthen its market presence in Southeast Asia and Latin America over the next decade.
BYD's Global Footprint
Behind BYD’s extensive global footprint lies its robust technological prowess, such as the Blade Battery and e-Platform 3.0 technology, which enable BYD to compete with international brands in the electric vehicle sector. BYD’s success serves as a role model for Chinese automakers venturing onto the global stage and demonstrates the competitiveness and global influence of Chinese electric vehicles. With the increase in exports, China’s automotive industry is entering a new phase of high-quality development. BYD’s globalization not only brings international recognition to Chinese automakers but also signifies that "Made in China" is becoming synonymous with global quality.
