On October 11, 2024, Tesla held the highly anticipated "We, Robot" launch event at Warner Bros. Studios in Los Angeles, California. This event not only signifies a new breakthrough for Tesla in the field of autonomous driving but also has the potential to profoundly impact the entire shared mobility industry.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk made a grand entrance in the newly developed autonomous taxi, Cybercab, which features no steering wheel or pedals. Production of the Cybercab is expected to begin in 2026, with a projected cost of under $30,000. Furthermore, Musk revealed that the operational cost could be approximately $0.20 per mile, while the final price, including taxes and fees, may reach between $0.30 and $0.40 per mile.

The design of the Cybercab is reminiscent of the Cybertruck, exuding a cybernetic aesthetic and finished in a stainless steel color. Additionally, the Cybercab is a two-door vehicle equipped with gull-wing doors, featuring a continuous light strip at the front and a similar design for the rear brake lights. During the live stream, it appeared that the headlights of the Tesla Robotaxi had a "projection" feature, capable of casting light strips in front of the vehicle.
In addition to the Cybercab, Tesla also unveiled a model named Robovan, which is a multifunctional transport vehicle capable of accommodating over 20 passengers. This vehicle is designed for both passenger transport and cargo delivery. Importantly, the Robovan's design not only caters to passenger needs but also possesses significant cargo capacity, making it an important tool for future logistics. Although its exterior resembles that of a box truck, it is intended to function more like an autonomous bus. While the launch of the Robovan did not reveal extensive technical details compared to the Robotaxi, its potential should not be underestimated.

During the event, Musk also shared the latest developments regarding Tesla's humanoid robot, Optimus. He predicted that once these robots are deployed at scale, their costs could significantly decrease, with each unit potentially priced around $20,000 to $30,000. Moreover, Optimus is designed not only to perform household tasks, childcare, and companionship for pets, but it also served as a waiter during the event, providing drinks and performing dances that elevated the atmosphere of the launch.
