Wall Street is keeping a close eye on key levels of Treasury yields, with 10-year yields hitting 4.983 per cent. The last break above the 5 per cent mark was in 2007, while investors waited for Federal Reserve Chairman Colin Powell to comment. U. S. stocks rose slightly early Thursday.
The S & P 500 opened 6.76 points or 0.16% higher at 4321.36, the Dow opened 4.44 points or 0.01% higher at 33669.52 points, and the Nasdaq opened 40.5 points or 0.30% higher at 13354.80 points.
Tesla (TSLA.US) 's third-quarter earnings and revenue fell short of expectations, the stock tumbled more than 8% early, and founder Musk warned that Tesla Cybertruck would not generate much positive cash flow more than a year after it was put into production.
Netflix (NFLX.US) posted better-than-expected third-quarter revenue, strong advertising subscriptions and a 16% jump in its share price.
Fitness stock Peloton (PTON.US) fell more than 3 per cent after it was downgraded by BofA.
