美聯儲沃勒:美國通脹下降不會對就業市場造成太大傷害
美國聯邦儲備委員會理事克里斯託弗·沃勒表示,最近的數據符合美國央行可能能夠在不嚴重損害勞動力市場的情況下壓低通脹的觀點。
沃勒在爲舊金山聯儲學術會議準備的講話中表示,如果人們真的開始相信價格會繼續上漲,那麼戰勝高通脹可能需要美聯儲採取重大行動來打破這些預期。
美聯儲大幅加息可能會突然減緩經濟並導致大量失業。
但是,如果推動價格上漲的是企業重新調整價格的頻率突然上升——沃勒表示有一些證據支持這一理論——那麼“通脹可以迅速下降,而失業率上升帶來的痛苦相對較小,“ 他說。“最近的數據與這個故事是一致的。”
他說,需要更多數據才能確定“哪個故事是正確的”。
