福奇：美國目前已進入新冠疫情的新階段
當地時間4月26日，美國政府首席醫療顧問安東尼·福奇博士於PBS節目中回答了關於美國疫情何時結束的問題。

福奇表示，“美國現在肯定已經脫離了新冠疫情的大流行階段（out of the pandemic phase）。也就是說， 美國沒有每天90萬的新增感染病例，也沒有數萬的住院病人和數千的死亡病例。我們現在處於一個低水平階段。”
“因此，如果你問我們這個國家是否脫離了大流行階段，是的。我不相信我們會根除這種病毒。”他表示，“如果我們能夠將這一水平保持在非常低的水平，並間歇性地給人們接種疫苗。我不知道那必須得多頻繁，可能是每年一次，也可能是更長時間，以保持低水平。但是現在我們這個國家不處於新冠的大流行階段。”
福奇解釋，所謂大流行階段意味着存在全世界範圍內的廣泛感染，以及在人們之間迅速傳播。在全球範圍內大流行階段仍在持續。
但4月27日，福奇告訴CNN他的評論被一些人錯誤地描述爲疫情已經結束。"疫情還沒有結束(We’re not over the pandemic)。不要讓任何人誤解疫情已經結束。我們所處的是疫情的一個不同階段，"他說，"這個階段是一個過渡階段，希望能朝着更多的控制方向發展，那時候你可以真正恢復某種形式的正常狀態，而不會對社會、經濟、學校等造成完全破壞。”
福奇指出，美國近期的新增病例又有上升的趨勢。
"所以我們需要做的是繼續保持警惕，遵循疾病預防控制中心的指導方針，做各種可以保護你的事情。如果你沒有接種疫苗，就去接種疫苗；如果你可以接種加強針，就去接種加強針。如果你真的被感染了，要知道有抗病毒藥物可以使用。”
"我們每個人都必須以自己的方式對你被感染的風險做出評估，"福奇表示，"一般來說風險很低，但我做了一個個人評估。我已經81歲了，如果我被感染了，我的風險要高得多"。整編/趙昕萌
