伊坎談清倉西方石油：我和巴菲特不一樣
華爾街傳奇人物卡爾·伊坎和沃倫·巴菲特最近幾周對西方石油公司的股票採取了完全不同的態度。伊坎本月較早時披露，已清倉了西方石油股份，而巴菲特的伯克希爾-哈撒韋最近一直在增持該公司股份，投入了數十億美元。
在週二的一次採訪中，伊坎首次談到了他清倉西方石油的決定，在油價攀升至多年高位之際，這一決定說明瞭他和巴菲特之間截然不同的投資理念。
伊坎說，“他是一個很難反對的人。我的意思是，看看他的記錄，”暗指很多人認爲巴菲特是有史以來最偉大的長期投資者。
伊坎說：“我不認爲我們完全不一致。我認爲我們和沃倫在某種程度上是在做不同的生意。我是個激進投資者。在我看來，我尋找的是一家被低估的公司，比如西南天然氣公司（Southwest Gas），我能對它做些什麼。那是我喜歡做的事。這就是我每天來上班的原因。”
儘管兩人可能都在尋找被低估的股票，但巴菲特的耐心和較長的時間跨度是衆所周知的。1988年，巴菲特在寫給伯克希爾股東的信中談到該公司開始投資可口可樂時寫道：“事實上，當我們持有擁有優秀管理層的優秀企業的股份時，我們最喜歡的持有期限是永遠，”
另一方面，伊坎表示，他建立的頭寸並不是爲了構建一個長期維持的投資組合。
伊坎說：“我們在尋找出擊的時機，當然，如果我保留我們購買的蘋果和奈飛股份，我可能會賺更多的錢，但我們購買它們已經賺了很多錢。”
伊坎2016年就清倉了蘋果股票，而同年，巴菲特的伯克希爾哈撒韋剛開始購買蘋果的股票。從賬面上看，它已經成爲巴菲特有史以來最成功的投資之一，可以與之前提到的可口可樂相媲美。
伊坎從2019年開始購買西方石油公司的股票，當時該公司正捲入對阿納達科石油公司（Anadarko Petroleum）的競購戰。
伊坎週二表示：“實際上，我們在這隻股票上賺了近20億美元。作爲一名激進投資者，我認爲我們做了一件非常好的事，”並補充稱，他對西方石油公司仍有“複雜的對衝”。
伊坎說：“我持有認股權證，並據此做空部分股票，做空一些看漲期權。那是我過去的日子。我曾經做過一段時間的套利者，我喜歡玩這些衍生品，所以這是我參與的一個遊戲。”
