Facebook及谷歌投资兴建美国西岸至东南亚海底电缆
社交平台脸书(Facebook)(FB.US)及Alphabet(GOOGL.US)旗下互联网搜寻巨擘谷歌(Google)计划兴建两条海底电缆,连接美国西岸至新加坡及印尼,以增加区内数据传送用量七成,并改善网络可靠性。
脸书将投资该两条海底电缆,谷歌则参与投资其中一条,项目须经监管部门批准。参与计划的合作夥伴包括印尼电讯企业印尼国际电讯(Telin)及XL亚通(XL Axiata),与及新加坡基建投资公司吉宝企业(Keppel)。两条电缆料分别於2023年底及2024年底完成铺设。
