数说新冠疫情丨全球日增首超73万例，累计确诊逼近7500万例
截至2020年12月17日08:55，中国以外累计确诊新冠肺炎超7438万例 ，累计死亡超164万例 ，全球新冠确诊病例较前一日增加73.28万例 ，死亡病例较前一日增加14126例，均再创历史新高。全球累计死亡过万例国家或地区已达25个。
美洲地区，美国新冠确诊病例较前一日增加25.23万例，连续44日新增维持在10万例以上，死亡病例较前一日增加3936例，累计死亡病例超31万例，这一数字远超美国一年因车祸、自杀和中风死亡人数的总和。
据法新社报道，美国国务院新闻办公室16日在一份声明中说，蓬佩奥已被确认接触过新冠病毒检测结果呈阳性者，他将开始进行隔离。蓬佩奥已接受新冠病毒检测，结果呈阴性。根据美国疾病控制和预防中心的指导意见，蓬佩奥将进行隔离，医疗团队正在密切关注他的身体状况。
巴西新冠确诊病例较前一日增加7.27万例，再创历史新高。根据巴西知名智库瓦加斯基金会15日发布的最新报告，该国在2011至2020年间的全国GDP增速以及人均GDP水平预计将跌落至120年来相同时期的最低值。
欧洲地区，俄罗斯新冠确诊病例较前一日增加2.65万例。俄卫生部长穆拉什科在俄政府抗击新冠疫情协调委员会主席团会议上宣布，俄产新冠疫苗“卫星-V”已运送至俄罗斯境内的所有地区，疫苗运输和储藏的所有环节均已安排妥当，目前已启动疫苗接种工作的医疗机构共计1229家。此外，俄卫生部长表示，已接种新冠疫苗的公民共计2.85万名。
英国新冠确诊病例较前一日增加2.53万例。英国政府和北爱尔兰、 威尔士、 苏格兰等三个地方自治政府在近两日重新审视了圣诞节和新年期间的防疫政策，英格兰一地基本维持原来的政策不变，即从23日至27日这5天内，允许三个不同家庭在一起举行节日聚会；威尔士决定从12月28日起开始再次启动全面的居家封锁措施，节日期间只允许两个不同家庭在一起聚会；苏格兰也收紧了节日防疫措施，节日中只能有一天可举行跨家庭的节日聚会。
