康哲藥業(00867.HK)與Gelesis Inc.就產品PLENITY簽訂許可合作協議
格隆匯6月18日丨康哲藥業(00867.HK)發佈公告，公司通過其全資附屬公司於2020年6月18日與Gelesis Inc.就其產品PLENITY（Gelesis100）簽訂了許可、合作及供應協議。
根據許可協議的約定，集團通過其全資附屬公司將獲得根據Gelesis知識產權及可適用的註冊許可在中國大陸、香港特別行政區、澳門特別行政區、台灣、新加坡及阿拉伯聯合酋長國開發、進口、註冊、生產、製造及商業化產品的獨家許可權利。許可協議期限為自簽署生效之日起起算二十年。前述期限屆滿後，根據許可協議約定的特定條件，許可協議可在此後以每三年為一個區間續簽。
同時，集團通過其全資附屬公司與Gelesis簽署了股份購買協議，對其進行股權投資。通過此次合作，集團現有的產品組合將在產品於區域上市後得以豐富及擴張。
據悉，PLENITY是基於Gelesis專有水凝膠技術平台的第一款產品。PLENITY是一款口服、不作用於全部機體系統的、無刺激的體重管理方案。它以膠囊的形式在午餐和晚餐之前和水一起服用。膠囊釋放出成千上萬的顆粒，在胃中迅速吸收水分，形成小的單個凝膠單元，這些凝膠單元具有植物性食品（例如蔬菜）的彈性和牢固性且不含熱量。凝膠有助於產生飽腹感，從而幫助體重減輕。臨牀研究表明，這種新穎的治療方法有效且耐受良好。PLENITY已被美國FDA批准，與飲食和運動結合，幫助體重指數（BMI）為25–40kg/m2的成年人進行體重管理。PLENITY還獲得了CE認證，因此Gelesis可以在歐洲經濟區進行銷售。
中國是全球成人肥胖人口最多的國家之一。資料顯示，2015年中國成人中超重及肥胖比例分別為23%及5%。目前常用的減重和體重管理藥物存在不同程度的不良反應；而保健品市場上的其他產品在有效性和安全性方面未獲得有效的循證醫學驗證。總體來説，市場存在大量未得到滿足的需求。PLENITY的引入可以很好地填補市場需求，為患者提供有效性和安全性俱佳的治療選擇。PLENITY的核心專利（即製劑/用途專利和製備方法專利）已經在中國大陸獲得授權，有效期最長可到2032年，另外幾項專利在中國大陸處於不同的申請階段。
此外，Gelesis正在開發一種新型水凝膠平台技術，用於治療超重、肥胖以及與胃腸道相關的慢性疾病。Gelesis的專有技術旨在通過作用於胃腸道的機械作用，潛在地改變某些慢性疾病的病程。2019年4月，Gelesis的主要候選產品PLENITY獲得美國FDA批准，用於結合健康的飲食和運動，幫助超重和肥胖且BMI為25–40kg/m2的成人進行體重管理。PLENITY還獲得了CE認證，因此Gelesis可以在歐洲經濟區中銷售PLENITY。此外，Gelesis正在開發第二個研究性候選物Gelesis200，這是一種針對2型糖尿病和糖尿病前期患者血糖控制而優化的水凝膠。基於Gelesis平台技術的新型水凝膠機械療法也在其他胃腸道炎性疾病中推進，例如非酒精性脂肪性肝炎（NASH）和慢性特發性便祕（CIC）。
