傳特斯拉向嘉能可購買鈷 並確保鈷礦非僱用童工
據英國《金融時報》引述消息稱,美國電動車生產商特斯拉(Tesla)將向全球商品及礦業交易商嘉能可購買鈷,作為旗下上海新超級工廠及德國柏林規劃中車廠鋰離子電池的原材料。
交易將增加特斯拉對岡果(金)的供應依賴,亦提振了嘉能可鈷業務,過去兩年鈷價重挫約三分之二,至每噸3萬美元。
特斯拉上周稱支持從岡果(金)採購原料,並指保證鈷等礦物來自符合其社會及環境標準的礦場。這亦反映特斯拉在擴大中國及歐洲生產的同時,致力保障原料供應。其他車廠如大眾汽車,則依賴外部電池生產商以保障鈷供應。特斯拉消耗鈷量較其他車廠為少。
全球逾60%的鈷供應來自岡果(金),當中達五分之一是以徒手採挖,甚至會僱用童工。特斯拉上周公布的2019年度ESG報告中,指公司作出大量努力以去除僱用童工的風險,並補充以負責任及道德的方式採礦,是所涉社區經濟及社會幸福的重要部分。
