What does the "CA" tag on an option quotation page mean?
The "CA" tag stands for a corporate action of the underlying stock. Corporate actions may include, for example, a stock split, reverse stock split, special dividend, merger, spin-off or other capital event.
Options marked with a "CA" tag are usually adjusted options. The option symbol may also contain a numerical suffix, such as "XXX1" or "XXX2", to indicate that the option contract is not a standard option contract.
Please note that a corporate action may affect the terms of the option contract, including but not limited to the number of deliverable shares per option contract, strike price, contract multiplier, exercise/assignment settlement result and effective cost. The relevant option contract adjustment arrangements are usually announced by The Options Clearing Corporation ("OCC") or the relevant exchange/clearing organisation. Before trading or holding such adjusted options, clients should proactively check and pay attention to contract adjustment announcements published on the OCC website or by other relevant organisations, carefully understand the relevant corporate action and its impact on the option contract, and make their own prudent assessment and investment decision.
