Message “The Stock You Hold Is Currently Not Supported for After-Hours Trading”?

Overnight trading Prompt: “The stock you hold is currently not supported for overnight trading. Please close your position during another trading session before trading After-Hours. If you have any pending orders for this stock, please cancel them before placing an overnight order.” How should this be handled?

Situation 1: The Stock Itself Does Not Support overnight trading

  • Handling: If there is no overnight trading indicator on the stock details page, it means that the stock is not included in the overnight trading list, and you will not be able to trade the stock during the overnight session.

How to check: After searching for the stock ticker or name, click the three-dot icon on the right side of the market price and check whether “overnight trading Supported” is displayed.

Situation 2: Conflict Between Existing Positions and overnight trading Rules

  • Handling: If the stock itself supports overnight trading but you receive this prompt, it is usually because the trading channel through which your existing position was purchased is different from the trading channel used for overnight trading.

Solution:

  1. First, sell the entire position during the regular trading sessions (pre-market, regular session, or after-hours).
  2. Wait for the trade to settle (after T+2 trading days).
  3. After settlement is completed, you can buy the stock again during the After-Hours session.
