明尼亚波利斯联储总裁促严格封城救经济
明尼亚波利斯联储总裁卡什卡利(Neel Kashkari)与明尼苏达大学传染病研究及政策中心总监Michael Osterholm在《纽约时报》撰文,指出封城计划必须尽可能完整及严格,若不采取封城计划,未来将可能出现百万计新增新冠确诊及更多人死亡,直至疫苗出现为止,且明年甚或後年的经济复苏将更缓慢,更多企业倒闭及更高失业率。
文章指,美国3月的封城行动不够严格,使美国於复苏道路上落後,并警告目前所经的事情可能只是更大灾难的热身。他们认为美国政府必须封城,又指严格封城最终会带来更强劲的经济复苏,健康与经济并无矛盾,两者均需要主动控制疫情。
文章亦提出国会应主动地支持因疫情失业工作的民众,并担心若民众无法支付帐单,会使经济下行情况更为糟糕,造成更多破产,影响经济复苏。
