元宇宙“虛火”燒盡
有研究機構預計，索尼集團(SONY.US)旗下的PlayStation VR2頭顯上市後的頭幾周銷量將不足30萬部，而這對於該公司在元宇宙開發中發揮主導作用的願景來說是一個非常緩慢的開端。如今，ChatGPT問世後，席捲全球的生成式AI熱潮令紅極一時的元宇宙顯現出“過時黃花”之態，元宇宙這把“虛火”可謂逐漸燒盡，市場迴歸理性。
根據知名研究機構IDC的預測數據，從2月22日發售到3月底，預計這家總部位於東京的遊戲機製造商可能會賣出約27萬臺PSVR2。有媒體去年報道稱，索尼曾爲PSVR2的發佈窗口期設定了約200萬臺的較高目標。索尼發言人拒絕置評。
這款頭戴式VR頭顯是索尼建立一個元宇宙戰略的基礎部分，在這個戰略中，人們可以做的遠不止玩電子遊戲。索尼總裁兼首席執行官吉田憲一郎將元宇宙作爲索尼的增長支柱，就像Meta所做的那樣，該公司的內部遊戲工作室一直在開發爲VR頭顯量身定製的遊戲，以幫助這款新的頭戴設備快速啓動，但目前還沒有徹底實現。
Meta Platforms(META.US)首席執行官馬克·扎克伯格所領導的概念性3D虛擬環境尚未取得回報，Meta在元宇宙行業的硬件和軟件方面已進行鉅額投資，但未取得實質性回報。Meta已經通過裁員以及削減非必要項目開支，來控制其元宇宙部門Reality Labs的鉅額支出。
IDC的數據和分析副總裁Francisco Jeronimo表示:“全球消費者都面臨着生活成本上升、利率上升和失業率增加等問題。”“在當前的經濟環境下，VR頭顯似乎並不是大多數消費者最關心的話題。”
索尼首席財務官 Hiroki Totoki最近在摩根士丹利的一次會議上表示，索尼有理由相信，在PSVR2上市期間，頭顯的銷量將超過PlayStation VR銷售的約500萬這一數量。根據本月的一份報告，與之前的設備性能相當並不能使當前的設備取得成功，因爲Meta更容易獲得和負擔得起的Quest迄今爲止已售出超過2000萬部。
“PSVR2需要一臺PlayStation 5遊戲主機才能玩，售價549美元，隨着經濟狀況的惡化，這個價格只會顯得更加昂貴，”Jeronimo表示。“Meta已經宣佈降低Quest 2的價格，這也將影響索尼這款設備的銷售數據。”“我懷疑PSVR2需要降價，以避免他們的新產品出現徹底的災難，”Jeronimo表示。
