Google关闭自家游戏制作部门Stadia
Google宣布关闭自家游戏制作部门Stadia,并将Google Stadia重新定位为现有开发者的串流游戏平台,而非为其服务开发自家游戏,意味公司放弃与PlayStation、Xbox等的竞争。
Google副总裁兼Stadia总经理Phil Harrison表示,由头开始开发一流的游戏需时多年,需作出大量投资,并且成本倍数增长。由於Stadia聚焦於建立成熟技术,及加深与业务合作夥伴的关系,公司决定除了近期已计划的项目外,将不进一步投资於内部开发团队SG&E(Stadia Games and Entertainment)。
Stadia将关闭其於洛杉矶和蒙特利尔的游戏工作室,而开发团队大部分员工会担任新职务。
