Securities are traded in units called “lots.” For orders executed through the Hong Kong Stock Exchange’s automatic matching system, the minimum trading unit is one lot.
100, 500, 1,000, or 2,000 shares, among other quantities. For example, in the Hong Kong stock market, Tencent Holdings currently trades in lots of 100 shares, while China Tower trades in lots of 2,000 shares.
